Our History

We began under a federal School-to-Work grant. For the duration of the grant, all scholarship monies raised were matched by the Commonwealth of Virginia. When the grant ended, the scholarship fund survived through generous community support. In January 2011 the Mountain View High School Foundation, Inc. earned 5013c status as a not-for-profit organization. The foundation is entirely volunteer-run, allowing us to award almost 100% of donations directly to supporting students. Your donations are 100% tax deductible.

How You Can Help

Individuals, families, and organizations can provide for scholarships in two ways:

  • Direct: Donors contribute funds for an annual or one-time award.

  • Memorial: Funds are contributed in memory of someone else.

"Teachers were primarily focused on helping students become successful...high school already seems to have been so long ago, but unlike students from a traditional high school, I take my high school experience with me wherever I go and keep it close to my heart." -Daniel Winters, Class of 2005

"If it wasn't for all the scholarships I have received, I would not have been able to go to college." -Brenda Rivera, Class of 2016

"My life was changed forever because of the time I spent at Mountain View High School." -Jesse Sipina, Class of 2000

"This lifted a huge financial burden off my shoulders. I was able to focus on my daughter, my course work, and concentrate on my dream of becoming a teacher." -Jamie Frear, Class of 2013
